Answer 1 of 7: This will be my 4th trip to Thailand. I've been to Phi Phi and Koh Lanta. I'm travelling with my husband and we are looking for a very nice beach, not too touristy, but with a handful or restaurants and ability to walk around.

Should I stay other 2 or 3 days in Aonang itself and take boat to railay beach or is it worth staying in railay for 2 days and explore there? The only thing I have singled out to do is to head to Railay Beach and Phra Nang Beach and visit the caves. Railay East beach isn't a beach at all - more like a muddy tidal flat, and nearby Ao Pha Nang beach (possibly the most beautiful) only has one mega-expensive resort. So for the immediate area (with good beachfront scene and good swimming) it kind of leaves you with only one option - to stay on Railay West and pay the price. Travelling to Ao Nang & Railay. Krabi Town has an airport with daily flights from Bangkok. From there, it is about 45 minutes by car to Ao Nang. To get to Railay from Ao Nang there are longtail boats that act as ferries which can be found at either end of Ao Nang beach. The trip takes about 15 minutes. Initial plan was to stay the 3rd night in phi phi and then come back and stay 2 nights in a resort in railay beach and take day trips to other places during the 4 days in ao nang and railay. But after reading some review about the proximity to food and other things in railay and phiphi, I am confused.

If you "live" there you will be commuting in the opposite direction all the time and afterdark, that gets VERY expensive.
